National General/Admiral Staff Officer Course (NGASOC)

The most demanding course run at the Führungsakademie begins every year in autumn, it takes two years and is open to 100 national and international military students.
The training qualifies the students to get to the core of problems from various perspectives using scientific methods and to develop solutions. The military leaders plan at the strategic, operational and tactical level, and provide appropriate analyses and recommendations concerning security policy issues.

International General/Admiral Staff Officer Course (IGASOC)

The ten-month course is open to German and international students. The seminar language is German. German staff officers support the international students as mentors. Beyond the scope of military training, the students get an insight into the political and economic structures and the cultural peculiarities of our society.

The most important goal of the course is to further develop an international network at the highest military level of command. The Federal Ministry of Defence decides in conjunction with the German Foreign Office which countries may send officers to Germany.

States, Societies, Military

Students attending modules of this training field are enabled to understand the relationships and interactions between the state, society, and the military; assess the effects of political and social processes of change; evaluate different forms of conflict and the factors and influences determining them; and, consequently, draw conclusions with regard to security policy, strategy, the employment of forces, and their own actions on the basis of an active and continuous analysis of issues related to the concept of leadership development and civic education (Innere Führung) in a broad sense of meaning.

Capabilities and Structures of Armed Forces

Students attending modules of this training field will be enabled to assess and further develop the capabilities and structures of armed forces in the entire range of tasks while taking into account resources available in terms of personnel and materiel. They will also be enabled to consider these aspects in decision-making processes.

Bundeswehr Routine Operations

Students attending modules of this training field will be enabled to understand tasks and determining factors of Bundeswehr routine duty and the interaction of organizational areas, to assess them while taking into account the principles of economic efficiency and to apply the principle of process management.

Field Officer Basic Course (FOBC)

The Filed Officer Basic Course provides broad-based further education designed to prepare future field-grad officers for their prospective tasks and responsibilities.

Joint Operations

Students attending modules in this training field will be enabled to help to shape and coordinate staff work at all levels and in all basic functional areas on a joint, national and international basis, and across the entire spectrum of operations including routine duty. They will also be enabled to prepare decisions by taking into account the operational principles and procedures, to implement them in orders and measures and to control their execution.

Individual leadership skills

Students attending modules in this training field will be enabled to become aware of their individual key qualifications, to further enhance them and to confidently apply elements of social, methodical and technical skills within the scope of their self-competence as required by the situation. Moreover, they will be enabled to orientate their thinking and action towards the principles of leadership development and civic education (Innere Führung) and to further develop them in a continuous process based on current requirements.

The purpose of the module system is to offer tailored contents, thereby taking into account individual interests not only in the various subject areas but also in a modern and demand-oriented manner. For this reason, the students attending any further training are prepared in a demand-oriented manner for their current and future assignments and acquire at the same time qualifications in other subject areas.
