Baudissin Documentation Centre
On 22 November 2001, Major General Hans-Christian Beck, then commandant of the Führungsakademie, signed an agreement stating that in the future almost the entire estate of Lieutenant General Professor Wolf Graf von Baudissin will be permanently accommodated, made accessible and taken care of on the premises of the Führungsakademie.
This agreement paved the way for the establishment of a Baudissin documentation and research center in Hamburg, i.e. in a city, in which the count had been working for more than fifteen years in three research and instruction institutions. As requested by the Vice Chief of Staff, the members and especially the students of the Führungsakademie shall have every opportunity to participate in this research activity. With the support of the Führungsakademie, Lieutenant Colonel (ret.) Dr. Freiherr von Rosen is the honorary dean of the Baudissin Estate. The Baudissin Estate encompasses written documents as well as audio and video recordings by the count and a number of works of some of his companions.
The estate is accommodated in the Generalleutnant-Graf-von-Baudissin Barracks in building 23 and in rooms 31, 39 and 40 of building 24. These rooms also give a vivid impression of the environment in which the count of Baudissin worked; some of them are equipped with pieces of furniture and other objects that belonged to him.
Visiting and using the Baudissin Documentation Centre is possible upon prior appointment.
